An Homage To Rest
Today I laid down to try and take a nap.
It was hard…but I did it.
Though I didn’t sleep much,
My soul rested in the fact that I acknowledged my needs.
I heard the whisper of my cues
And decided to take heed;
Decided that I was worth it.
That it didnt make me anymore perfect
To keep operating on empty.
Was lowkey starting to resent me…
But that’s another poem for a different day.
In this moment all I can say is that I’m proud.
My horizontal homage was a tiny step in mending my relationship to rest.
A tiny step back to feeling my best;
And for that…I am grateful.
